In today’s post, I’ll be talking all about how to pick the best coaching container for you.
There is a wide variety of coaches and coaching styles out there, so how do you pick? With everything from one-on-one coaching to VIP offers, I’ll cover all of the information you need to find the best tools that align with your values and business.
I covered this topic more in-depth in a previous post, but here is a brief overview of how to pick the right coach to help your business grow.
Do their values align with yours? This plays a massive role in how they approach their business strategy and impacts the relationship that you’ll have with them. It’s imperative that you make sure you’re on the same page before committing to a coach.
Do you enjoy interacting with them? Are you able to be open and honest with them? Do you feel comfortable? While everyone has disagreements from time to time while working together, it’s important to consider how their personality works with yours.
What is their approach to developing your business? You can take my quiz to see which style suits you best: Mindset, Strategic, Aspirational, or Spiritual. This can really make or break your experience, so it is definitely worth investigating before committing.
Do they lean more masculine or feminine? Are they no bullshit? Are they very caring? Are they more of a partner with you? Or are they more of a guide?
Mentors in all arenas have a lot to bring to the table, and you’ll likely go through seasons in your business of what you need.
Aside from who the coach is, it’s also important to consider where you are in your business to make sure you’re investing in the right containers for optimal growth. You want to make sure you’re choosing the right fit to maximize your potential. If you’re just starting out, you don’t have any clients yet, or maybe you’ve even had a little bit of up-front success but haven’t actually had time to develop your business. This one’s for you, the beginner entrepreneur.
Typically, having a mentor for your business that is just starting out will help speed up the process. Having someone who is hands-on and can hold you accountable can help you develop your strategy at your pace and set you up for success. You’re bound to have a lot of questions in the beginning, so having this person by your side can be invaluable early on in your entrepreneurial journey.
Benefit 1: Emotional Support
When you’re just beginning to create your business, it’s very common to experience some nerves about what your future holds. In this sense, it can be really beneficial to be a part of a group coaching container. You’ll be able to get some feedback and emotional support from people who are at the same phase of development as you. In a situation like this, a one-on-one coach might not be able to give you the mentorship that you need if it isn’t in their natural style to be emotionally supportive.
The first few years of starting a business take a lot of energy to get the ball rolling, and a one-on-one coach who works with you for six months might not necessarily be able to speed up that process. However, a group provides a consistent system for you to work within that can support you when you need it.
So many people quit their business in the first few years because they don’t have a group of people who can normalize their feelings and hold them accountable. This is a huge value to your growth process. Having a community will help you commit to your goals.
Benefit 2: Lower investment
When you’re first starting out, you don’t have as much income to spend on coaching from your business. Joining a group session is more cost-effective, and will ensure that you’ll be able to pay for group coaching for a longer period of time.
Benefit 3: Consistency
Signing up for a group course will help keep you accountable for a longer period of time. You’ll be able to stay consistent with your work and grow and learn from others who are at the same level as you.
If you’ve already got clients and a functioning business, but you’re ready to step up your game, then a one-on-one coach might be right for you. One-on-one coaches offer custom planning and will be much more hands-on than a group. Personally, I treat my one-on-one coaching clients as a partnership and am very involved in their process. If you feel like you need some more optimization then this might be a great option for you.
A group can be a really powerful tool once your business is up and running. Even though you’ve made it past your beginning phase and are now working with different problems, having a sense of community can help keep you motivated and passionate.
Mastermind programs are done differently depending on where you go, however, my Mastermind is a hybrid of group and one-on-one work. You get plenty of personalized coaching, but you’ll also get the benefit of working towards your goals with a group of like-minded people.
At this level, it’s less about the type of container, and more about the investment in your company that helps take you to the next level. If you’ve got skin in the game, you’re much more likely to commit to your business in a powerful way.

At this level, you’re making a lot of money in your business, but you’re looking to reach new heights. A higher level one-on-one coach can support you in your growth and challenge you to push yourself even further.
If you’re at this level, it’s important to zero in on finding a coach whose style matches yours. Since you’ve already made full-time income with your company, finding a specific type of coach that can help you advance even further in your niche, with specific skill sets of their own, is going to help you get to where you want to go.
Maybe you feel like your business is optimized and you’re in a great place, but you’re missing out on something in your business. If you want to focus on one area of your business that needs improvement, then VIP days might be a good coaching container option for you.
VIP Days offer specialization in things like copy, design, new launches, or branding. With VIP days you have the opportunity to find courses that are self study or that are more hands-on. This customization is a huge bonus when you’re at this level and you know the weaknesses you want to improve upon.
For example, my VIP Day Experience: Explode Your Launch In A Unique Way is very similar to my self study course, but clients get more attention and more coaching from me personally. If you’re someone who needs a coach to be in it with you to keep you accountable, then something like this might be best for you. We’ll plan out your entire launch and figure out all of the nitty gritty details together so that you can feel confident in your approach.
Once you’ve identified what your goal is and you know what specialization you need help with, you can find the best approach for you. There are so many different options when it comes to this stage. Coaches offer everything from 90 days of Voxer to self guided courses. You can find a container that suits you and can help push you forward.
At the end of the day, it’s really important to consider what your business needs and how a container can serve you. It’s easy to feel FOMO when it comes to all of the different courses and coaches that are available, but remember that these offerings are there to help YOU. The best thing you can do is stay in touch with yourself and your needs, and then find the program that will help you accomplish your goals.
Additionally, if you’re not sure about something you can always ask the coach any questions you may have about their containers. Something might sound like what you need on paper, but your style and approach may not align with the coach who is offering it.
A good place to start is by applying to a program without putting any of your money down and having a conversation with the coach about if the program will be right for you. Don’t let your fear of reaching out keep you from moving forward with your goals.
For example, I have both local and virtual options for my VIP day, so if you’re on the fence, please reach out to me and apply. I am passionate about helping you grow your next launch in a way that brings you joy.
And finally, as always, stay safe, stay healthy, and stay #PrettyAwkward!
I hope this post helped you see that it is completely normal to feel stuck in your business but you don’t have to stay stuck!
