Passionate Work and a Balanced Life: A Look at My Unique Expansion Mastermind

This post is a bit of a deep dive into my Unique Expansion Mastermind as well as my business journey. I wanted to take a chance to be honest and open about what’s brought me where I am now. While I’ve already done this to some degree, it’s been more censored. 

I think the reason I censored myself a bit was because I didn’t want to trigger anyone or annoy anyone. But, it’s important to me that I say my truth and be honest about my journey over the past few years.

The Two Pillars of My Unique Expansion Mastermind 

I’m really specific about the clients I take on for this mastermind as I want them to line up with the priorities it focuses on. In the past two years, I’ve done a lot of restructuring in my business. And for this mastermind – and in my business as a whole, I have two different pillars that everything focuses around.

The first is being passionate about the work I do and ensuring all work stems from that – not just from the opportunity to make money.

The second is that I put my life first and my business second, and it has to support the life I want.

This came from the fact that I was once obsessed with reaching a certain level of income – no matter how many hours that meant I had to work and how much time I had to take away from my family or what sacrifices I needed to make. But I’ve changed and reprioritized and really learned what’s important to me, so everything I do has to match those pillars.

My First $100k+ Cash Month 

To be honest, my first $100k+ month (I actually made $112k) was not planned. I know that’s crazy to say, but it’s true! What drove that month was my passion for my work. It was 2019 and I was so excited about the offer I had and the client I was working with. I was truly creating out of passion and purpose.

The way I set my goals back then, I would determine how much I wanted to make and then reverse engineer how many offers or clients I needed to get to attain that goal. No number really did it for me, and it’s the same way now. Instead, I have always liked to align my goals by asking myself, “Who do I want to work with and how do I want to spend my time?”

So while sheer passion for my work led me to my first six-figure cash month, something changed in 2020. This was when I was so obsessed with money. It was like a constant rat race in my head and I obsessed with the need to one up myself.  

This really escalated when I was separated from my husband and in quarantine for COVID-19, which coincided. But I started to realize that something had to change. I needed to make my marriage my first priority, make more time for myself, and just have more time in my life where I wasn’t working.

Most of all, I needed to fall back in love with what I was doing, so that’s why I decided to make some serious changes in my business.

Giving Up Money to Gain a Life I Love 

Towards the end of 2020, I decided to let go of a lot of money. This was for the good of my marriage and for my own health and happiness.  I went from making $80k a month to $40k or $50k a month. Obviously, that’s a lot less. And I love money – I think that money in the hands of good people is so powerful – but I realized that giving up some was a good thing for me.

This has been a humbling experience, and I went from making so much money and working 24/7 to taking a step back and allowing myself to really fall in love with my work again. 

I want everything I do to align with my priorities, which is why this mastermind is for people who want to get excited about their business and attain that balance in their life. I want to work with people who feel as though passion has to come first, and the money will follow.
