Today’s post is a little different – I’m speaking from the heart about a couple things that have been on my mind. I want to share a few business lessons I have learned from my own business. The truth is – these lessons may help you and your business, too!
I’ve found that when I’m going through things, many other people are going through the same thing. This applies to people in the world of business and outside of it. I think it’s so important to share these stories and lessons, because I know they’ll resonate with a lot of you and get you thinking.
The first thing I want to talk about is the concept of changing your mind. Please consider this my permission slip to you – you’re completely allowed to change your mind. It’s really that simple!
This is somewhat of a permission slip we forget to ask for, but you can change your mind about anything in your life, and especially about anything in your business. This is particularly true when something in your business simply does not feel aligned with you and your values anymore.
I want you to also understand that to change your mind with empowerment, you need to know the difference between being scared of something versus knowing that something is no longer meant for you.
This notion came to me as I was reflecting on my network marketing days. It wasn’t about the income – I wanted to make a change because I just didn’t feel challenged anymore. In truth, I was bored and unfulfilled. While it was great for me at one time, it was no longer right for me.
Just like I did when I ditched network marketing – you are fully allowed to change your plan. In fact, when we keep going forward with a plan just for the sake of it, we’re wasting valuable time. You’re allowed to make that change, to pivot, and to switch over to something that completely lights you up.
You might be thinking – I want to make a change, but is that yearning coming from the right place? There are some ways to really decipher where your desires are coming from. First, ask yourself if your thoughts are coming from a place of fear or from something being challenging. Or, is it coming from a place of something not being a fit anymore?
The truth is that we’re all adapting and growing as the world around us, social media, and business evolve. That’s normal! You need to feel good about your business and your messaging. Your perspective will change as you attain more information, and that’s perfectly okay. In fact, it’s expected.
Another thing you can change your mind on is a belief that no longer serves you. You simply have to base these around your values and ensure that you’re serving those values in whatever you’re doing. People sometimes think they have to stay steadfast in their original beliefs, and that’s simply not true or reasonable.
A belief that you’re holding that feels outdated and no longer serves you is going to really limit you from reaching the next level. To achieve that next level, you need to make changes. When you think about it, it’s kind of crazy how these little beliefs or big beliefs can seep into our being and we just take them on. To help yourself do this, surround yourself with people who have different perspectives so you can really test your beliefs.

The next thing that’s been on my heart is the idea that there’s not just one way to do business. Many times, live launching gets a bad rap. Niching down gets a bad rap. Private coaching gets a bad rap.
But in reality, the only thing that SHOULD get a bad rap is the idea that there’s only one way to do business.
I hear things like, “live launches suck,” or, “there’s no need to niche down,” or “you can’t scale a private coaching business.”
Yes – all of these things CAN be true. But they can also be completely false. Take live launching, for instance – there’s a time and a place for it. Some people love it, some hate it. There’s also appeal in evergreen offers.
Niching down can be tricky, but the majority of people that I have coached do niche down and I fully believe it’s helped them find incredible success. But for some people – it can be limiting. I get that. There’s no right or wrong on these things!
Private coaching can be raining for many people, especially if you’re taking on too many clients or not the right clients. That happened to me – a lot of the clients I originally took on with my private coaching weren’t mentally ready for it. That was tough. But I’ve also seen how incredible and empowering private coaching can be.
It comes down to the fact that you need to take ownership and try different things. Open your own eyes to how you want to do business. Maybe you were once told you HAVE to do something a certain way – but that’s a red flag. In general, business strategy means that not everything works for every person.
You can’t just copy and paste a framework. That’s because you’re different and your clients are different. I want you to always remember that and think about how you can make things work for you.
All of this goes to say that you are in charge of making your own business work for you. If that means making changes – big or small – you’re entitled – and encouraged – to do that! Always make sure that you’re 100 percent aligned with what you’re doing and the clients you’re attracting. That’s the true key to being passionate about what you do and making your business work for you in the long run, and I hope this post has shed light onto that.
