For today’s post, I’m recapping my conversation with a special guest I recently had on my podcast. Nina Hirt is a six-figure business coach for female entrepreneurs that are wanting to grow and scale their business while being exactly who the f**k they are so they can become the ‘go-to’ coaches in this industry.
She also runs a social media agency called Social Spotlight that focuses on organic engagement with ideal clients.
With her expertise as a business coach and her love for sales she is a pro at connecting and converting ideal clients right in the DMs, she has a lot of knowledge to share. From a personal standpoint, she loves her wife, dogs, and being a part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Nina and I did a program together and I immediately loved her mind and energy. She’s so approachable and we started working together. So, let’s get into our conversation, where Nina shared how to build a business based on being your authentic self without ever apologizing for it.
Nina’s Business Journey
Growing up, Nina – like many others – felt as though her life was planned out. She got her master’s degree and was working a corporate job. Like so many of us do, she was checking the boxes of life.
But before long, she was bored. So, she decided to become an online fitness coach in 2018. From there, she began to realize what it took to be profitable and build a personal brand.
That started her journey helping people build their coaching business. She now runs an agency to help businesses and people attain organic engagement – and she’s AMAZING at it.
The Importance of Human Connection
Something that Nina has come to realize through her work is that the need and yearning for human connection will never go away. For a while, she hated being in the DMs. But, she knows she’s really good at it. So, she thought, why resist something she’s great at?
From there, she created her organic engagement agency. The help she provides to others takes so much stress off of her client’s plates. Talking and connecting with people takes a lot of time, and it’s something her clients won’t necessarily do themselves. But the great news is – she and her team can do it for them!
She works to build rapport with potential clients and their audience, helping find the perfect people to talk to. One of the ways she’s made that an easy thing to do is by detaching all expectations from every conversation. She looks at each DM as a conversation – not a transaction. That means she has no expectation that they’ll purchase. That makes it a lot easier to have a natural connection and conversation.

Finding Her Voice and Community
When Nina first entered the online business space, she thought it would be really simple to find success. But – she soon realized she wasn’t different in what she was doing. She needed to find a way to set herself apart. That meant she couldn’t use vanilla marketing tactics.
At the time, she also had an idea that she needed to be perceived as a straight woman by her audience. But she soon realized that anyone who wouldn’t work with her because she is LGBTQ is simply not meant for her.
Once she came out to her business audience, more people were in her DMs than ever before! It felt like she was able to provide a safe space for people. This opened doors and opportunities for her – just by being herself. How powerful is that?
Showing Up as Her Authentic Self
Showing up as her authentic self has allowed Nina to truly connect with her audience. It’s why she thinks so many of her clients continue to work with her after their initial contract period is up! It has also allowed her to create safe communities and instill confidence in her clients.
She aims for all of her clients to be heard and seen within the communities she creates. Each person’s voice matters and she loves that she connects people of different backgrounds and shares morals and ethics. In her groups, people hold each other accountable and challenge each other.
They really know each other in these trusting settings, and the way that she markets her business makes all the difference. Plus, it aligns with these experiences. Nina markets the journey she provides rather than just the money and success. That’s what feels authentic and inspirational to her.
She always tries to think – what does the money bring? What are the byproducts of the money? For her, it’s security and stability, which is different from how she grew up.
Once she stopped chasing that number, she understood that chasing passion and feeling instead is what has led to a better client experience and a more sound reputation in her space.
You Only Have You: The Bottom Line
At the end of the day, you only have yourself. That’s why it’s so important to be your authentic self and never be scared of the opinions of others. Nina’s advice is to own who you are and know you’ll attract the right people by being true to yourself.
People are currently craving authenticity and realness – so give them what they’re after. When you do, you’re bound to love the process a lot more, as well as the results that come along with it.
