How to Increase Your Social Media Engagement Organically Through EduTaining Content
In this post, I’m providing a mini masterclass about creating entertaining and educational content for your audience. This is a really important part of reaching your audience and converting this content to sales.
Thinking about how real-life consumers use social platforms will help you gain new insight as to how to reach people in a meaningful way. This advice is for people of all personalities – whether you’re super introverted or really outgoing and love being in front of the camera, this advice will provide a lot of useful advice.
Take the Pressure Off
Remember that when you first start making this content, it is normal for it to feel awkward. But the more you do it, the more natural it will feel.
Plus, remember that you can always delete content. Whether it’s an Instagram post, a Reel, a TikTok, or even an entire podcast episode, there’s always that delete button. And you don’t know if you don’t try!
Considering Your Natural Personality
I’ve noticed that it can be really hard for people to describe their own personalities. But to make it easier for you to do this part of the activity, here are some questions to ask those closest to you:
If you were describing me to a friend, what would you make sure you didn’t leave out?
When you think of me and my work, is there an image that comes to mind? What would that image be?
- If you had only three words to describe me, what would they be?
- What separates me from the crowd? What’s different about me?
- When I’m being the most me, how does it make you feel?
Also, think of brands or public figures that you love most. When you think of those organizations or people, certain characteristics come to mind. Those associations can be pretty powerful, right?
And think about what colors you feel resonate with you and your personality. It can be any color of the rainbow! Color psychology is totally a thing, so this is definitely something to consider closely. The colors you choose can be the colors on your website, the colors you wear in content, and so on. This is important stuff, even though it may seem arbitrary. I promise it’s not.

Consider Your Ideal Client
This is another important thing to take into consideration when developing entertaining and educational content. You’ll want to think through factors about them.
First, think about their lifestyle. What is their day-to-day life like? What are their relatable everyday experiences? This is where you have the opportunity to be entertaining to them.
You’ll also want to think of what your ideal client identifies as. For instance, if you are marketing to teachers, you want to be relatable to them. Or if you’re speaking to entrepreneurs, you want to speak to them.
Do your research to learn these things. Knowing these qualities and speaking to them will really help you get their attention.
The Power of Metaphors
Metaphors are super powerful. You want to use metaphors that your ideal clients can relate to. For instance, if you have an ideal client that likes to travel a lot, you’ll want to use metaphors that that audience can relate to. Metaphors about losing luggage, flight delays, or airport woes will definitely resonate with that audience.
The metaphors that you post should be relatable to you, though. Let them showcase your personality and your quirks – this will help you stand out. Think, how can I compare my personality to what I do?
Pop Culture Trends and Current Events
This is an important component, but you need to make sure you’re bringing your personality into it in order to be original. You want to use trends, but make them your own.
Think about what popular tv shows or movies are out there that your audience is likely to enjoy. These can be seasonal things, current things, or maybe something that’s going through a revival.
Book series are another thing to use in this category. Gifs are something to use that play into pop culture. Really, you want to tap into what people are enjoying, being entertained by, and talking about. That’s a great starting off point, as long as you’re putting your own twist on things.
All of These Components Allow for Series or Episodic Content: The Bottom Line
Once you take all of these components, work on them, and put them together – they form a medley of entertaining and educational content. And to take that further, it allows you to create series or episodic content. This is something I’ve done several times, and it can work for you too!
This allows you to use the same reliable tactics and content ideas in different ways to capture the attention of your audience. I am going to be doing some series with singing, which is relatable and showcases a passion of mine and some of my personality.
While creating educational and entertaining content may seem like a daunting task, I know that you’re a creative entrepreneur that has it in you to start putting this type of stuff out there for your audience to consume and enjoy.
I hope these tips, tricks, and all of this insight have inspired you to start creating your own content that will expand your reach with your target audience.
