I have been building my business coaching since the end of 2017, before that, I built a six-figure health and wellness coaching business. Prior to all that, I built a six-figure network marketing business. I have been in business since 2012. My coaching sells out in four days because I’ve been doing this for eight years. Not enough people talk about that, granted it shouldn’t take you eight years, but I didn’t have guidance or coaching at the beginning. I wasted a lot of time, so it won’t take you eight years if you stay the course.
A lot of people don’t talk about this concept, that it will take time. No matter how many courses you take, and how many coaches you have. Of course, you will get there faster with a mentor but it still doesn’t make up for the fact that at the end of the day, you have to do the work. A lot of people want to give you hacks and strategies for results, you will have results if you stick with your business through the times of uncertainty and lack of clarity. Uncertainty will happen all the time. What kept me focused during those eight years, and during three different industry shifts is having fun while building my business. I always found something every day to look forward to within or outside of the business.
This podcast was created with YOU in mind. The female entrepreneur looking to learn, and grow your business strategies and mindset, to get your business off the ground and scale to multiple six figures and have fun doing it. To inspire and empower you to take the required action you’ve been putting off to create products and make sales.
Each week we will be covering topics that will help you start, grow and scale your business. Some topics that you can expect to be covered include:
I can’t wait to hear about what you learn, what makes you laugh, and what tips allow you to grow your business and brand as your authentic self.
Stay #prettyawkward.
Stop saying things like, “When I get there, it will be great”, “When I get there, I’ll be confident.” What is there? What is that? When will you reach there? What if you are already there? Focus on the small wins every day because that adds up. If you haven’t read The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy, I highly recommend reading it. For example, here is a quick story to reference how the mentality of focusing on the destination can be damaging. I was a Beachbody coach, building my business, I was solely focused on hitting a big rank in the company. I still love the company and its products. At the time I was so hyper-focused and obsessed with the rank advancement, I lost sight of why I was coaching and doing this in the first place.
I’ll never forget when I walked across the stage and looked at the audience, I realized this is it. It felt like a big let-down. Now what? To be honest, the moment I got home from that trip everything went downhill. I started eating crap and drinking during the day. I was a health coach and I was the most unhealthy I’ve ever been in my life. I put this on myself, I stepped back and realized it’s because I was so focused on hitting this rank to be seen as cool, but this is not why I started the business. Everything changed from there, a year and a half later I started my own business.
It’s as simple as that. When you focus on making the journey the destination and go back to your why, and focus on the impact and the type of client you want to help, the money comes effortlessly. Focusing on the money and the numbers happens naturally when you are starting your business. Everybody goes through this stage. Just remember to bring yourself back to reality, because when you only focus on money and the numbers that’s when things go south. And this focus will not bring you long-lasting success. So how can you make more impact? Know who you are attracting and know that the work you do with them is so unique that you never have to pretend you’re someone you’re not.
One of my clients who is a business coach said she had a client who was flourishing but became so obsessed with the launch goal and the money. When she was in that headspace, her launch didn’t go well because she switched her goal from creating an impact to making more money. You can still have success in this mindset but it’s not enjoyable and it won’t be sustainable.
I want to quote one of my incredible clients, Rachel Spencer, she said: “I didn’t get applications until I embraced my marketing style.” We were talking about two of her social posts for her upcoming program. The first post she did was strategic but didn’t get a lot of applications. It was surprising as she’s super well known, but it wasn’t her style. While she’s incredible at strategy, the reason her clients sign up with her and resonate is not because of those strategic posts. The next day she does a storytelling post and gets more vulnerable. She got a slew of applications from that.
This is where I want you to notice different people in your industry. Look at this now as an experiment, look at different coaches, see their style, and the way they post. Are they strategic, storytelling, aspirational, or spiritual? Write down their handle and say which type of coach you think they are, and why do you think they have the success they do? I guarantee you will notice they’re all a little different, this is what’s so beautiful about this world, we all get to win. People sign up with them for different reasons, one of the reasons they’ve had so much success is that they don’t waiver in who they are, they own it.

Connect, grow, and scale your business to 6-Figures. Awkwardly.
I hope this was helpful, I’d love to know what happens when you go look at the people you truly admire and respect in your industry, see what kinds of content they do and see what their method is. Determine what you lean more towards and own that in your content. Have fun, don’t take business too seriously. Connect to your why, and make sure you remind yourself why you began your business. It won’t be rainbows and butterflies every day, but look forward to one thing every day and enjoy the journey.
And as always, stay safe, stay healthy, and stay #PrettyAwkward!
