In regards to blogging and the power of it for online coaches, specifically beginners, Lauren shares her top tip on how you need to think long-term and start blogging now. It takes time to get your blog post found if you are starting from the beginning, but once you are getting found, that will amplify your visibility and you can take your Instagram posts or Facebook posts and begin to repurpose it into blog posts. A lot of entrepreneurs think a blog post has to be completely different for social media, but you can take that existing content and repurpose it into a blog post. You’d just want to add more content to the blog post since a blog should have more content than an Instagram caption.
Start now, because, in a year, you will thank yourself for starting that process. Having a blog is such a great gateway to provide more value and continuously repurpose content. Start with a blog post that you can pull for Instagram posts if possible. It’ll be much easier to write out everything in detail on your blog that you can snip into 4-6 Instagram posts. You can also outsource your team to repurpose that content for you. When it comes to worrying about your skills as a writer, just try to write how you actually speak. If it’s helpful to record yourself speaking and transcribe then that’s a way to get the content out. People think you have to be really rigid in your content but Google is getting good at understanding how people speak and how it translates to writing. Focus on putting out top quality content but don’t be afraid to use your personality in your content.
This podcast was created with YOU in mind. The female entrepreneur looking to learn, and grow your business strategies and mindset, to get your business off the ground and scale to multiple six figures and have fun doing it. To inspire and empower you to take the required action you’ve been putting off to create products and make sales.

I can’t wait to hear about what you learn, what makes you laugh, and what tips allow you to grow your business and brand as your authentic self.
Stay #prettyawkward.
For online business owners, we don’t have to have these complicated websites that need massive amounts of advanced code. The content you are putting on your website is what truly matters. People think having the Yoast plug-in will put you automatically on page 1 of Google, but it comes down to the quality of content. I personally have WordPress and Yoast plug-in, when I started blogging I was not researching keywords, I was just writing random stuff down and realizing nobody was discovering my content. Once I implemented strategies I learned with SEO, everything changed dramatically.
My increased visibility wasn’t all because of the Yoast plug-in or WordPress. WordPress is great but you have to have good content. A common mistake in a lot of business owners is the lack of searching keywords. The foundation after you figure out your content is dialing into what people are searching for and writing content around that. You can write all this content but if you are not using the phrases and words people are searching, nobody will find that content. It can be as simple as switching a few words around in a phrase. As for tools on how you can find keywords and what people are searching for, Lauren shares a few of her favorite resources. Her first favorite resource is Keywords Everywhere. This is a google chrome extension that will show you the search volume for keywords. Another few great tools Lauren suggests are Ubersuggest and Moz.
Lauren shares that when you use one-word keywords, there is an extremely high search volume. The competition for shorter keywords is very high. For example, if you are an online business coach, you wouldn’t want to just write “coach” as your keywords because you will never show up in search engines. Instead, try to utilize a long-tail keyword like an online business coach, that is more specific. Using long-tail keywords narrows the focus and allows you to get more specific, which helps to attract aligned people to your content. Don’t be afraid to get too specific or niche down even if you want to rank for a keyword that has 5 words in it. The more specific you can get, the better.
You don’t want to be too broad, it’s good to come up with 3-5 categories maximum to talk about. if you want to reach page 1 as quickly as possible on Google, try using the same keyword in all your titles. Focusing on a couple of specific topics will create the most impact. I know for me personally when we started our first blog in the past about intermittent fasting, we found that keyword was too general. Then we changed it from intermittent fasting to intermittent fasting for women and that blew up visibility. We put this long-tail keyword into every single blog post, and that’s why people found my content.

Having a website and blog, you own all that content. That will never go away unless you decide to close your website or the internet goes down, which is unlikely. It’s really good to have that to rely on in case anything does happen with social media platforms. Again, with repurposing content, that’s an easy way to grow your blog and have more people find you. It can be exhausting to show you on Instagram and Facebook every day but with your blog post, it’s evergreen. An Instagram post lasts up to a day, but your blog can easily last up to four years on page 1 of Google.
That content is always working for you to bring in new leads on autopilot. It’s constantly bringing new people to you. I remember having a Pin that blew up on Pinterest, and after three years, it was still bringing in the highest volume of traffic. So different from Instagram, someone liked my post from a year ago, that’s seen as weird, but when someone comes across your blog or Pinterest, it’s different. The mindset of a consumer is different when they’re actively searching on Google. This consumer is looking for the solution to their problem, they are seeking you. On Instagram, they are seeking you but it’s more a relationship-building tool vs. blogging is very solution-focused.
I know SEO can be seen as a super overwhelming topic but it doesn’t have to be. I hope this episode brings you tremendous value and gets you thinking about alternatives if you depend on Instagram or Facebook for your business. If you are a CEO and want a long-term strategy for your business, this is something you need to tap into. SEO is a long-term strategy that can work for you forever. There are blog posts still ranking number one that was written years ago, it’s a great tool to have. Remember this is a long-game before you get overwhelmed by SEO.
And as always, stay safe, stay healthy, and stay #PrettyAwkward!
