Are you working on growing your business?
What changes can you implement for expansion?
As entrepreneurs, we all reach the point where we want to level up our business. Getting to that next level in business looks different for each of us. One thing that I’ve seen a lot of business owners overlook when it comes to reaching that next level is brand evolution.
It’s important to understand people are way more driven to invest or work with a brand that is recognizable, memorable, and viable. This comes from branding.
In this post, I want to show you how transformative building a strong brand for your business can be and the best ways to do it!
Something I see so often is entrepreneurs not creating a clear brand for their business. You are doing a huge disservice to your business if you’re lacking a brand! I can confidently say that the evolution of my brand was hands down one of the main things that helped me expand.
I’ll admit that I was someone who didn’t pay attention to branding until way later in the game. I always heard of branding but I had a misconception that it was just a cool logo or color palette for a business… turns out it is WAY more than that.
The brand you build for a business is what creates that feeling someone gets when they come in contact with your content. It is the way someone would describe your company to others by the feeling they get from you.
I want you to think about major brands, like NIKE or Apple, what feelings do you associate with these brands? Do you feel motivated? Inspired?
When a successful business builds a strong brand, most of the time people either love or hate them. This is because a good brand is vocal about what they stand for and against. They are clear and draw a line in the sand about what message is important to them.
This can be really scary to do, I know for a long time I didn’t want to rock the boat and be vocal on certain things. But this mindset won’t work to build a strong brand for your business. You have to let this hesitation go and share your brand’s message authentically.
In my business when I went all-in on my brand I lost followers, but I had to be okay with this. I realized I became more authentic to myself because I got to go all-in by being myself. Don’t be afraid to embrace what makes you different and build your brand with that!

Just because you see something working for others does not mean it’s going to work for you. Instead, use the things that make you unique to build your business. If you sit down and think of people in your industry who are successful and people you respect, try writing down the reasons you think they are doing so well.
Think about what their brand and message are and how they are making you feel with their content. If you can do this for other businesses then you can start doing it for your own business as well!
You should also start working towards creating a brand that is recognizable to your audience. You want people to start associating your business with certain things.
This process will help you make your business better known to the public and will differentiate you from your competitors.
Another important thing is to make sure your brand is easily identifiable to the public. Think about the specific expertise and skills you want to be known for.
Branding isn’t about looking at the small details like coloring and logos but creating a strong and clear message that you want to relay to your audience. From there the rest will follow.
When I started self-reflection on my branding evolution I realized it happened in six major phases.
1.During the first phase, I realized I wasn’t being my authentic self online. I copied what other people were doing. If I saw someone that was successful I tried to mimic what they did in my own business. While yes, this worked for me to a certain point, I was working incredibly hard and I was being inauthentic towards my audience.
2. During the second phase, I realized that the way I was working was making me money but it didn’t feel good. It all felt forced and honestly, it wasn’t sustainable. I ended up feeling so fake and exhausted by putting on an act that wasn’t true to who I was. I was mentally exhausted and I knew I couldn’t keep the facade up long-term.
3. Seeing how exhausted I was all the time I knew I needed to do some soul searching. I started to dig deep and think of what I wanted to be known for. I pinpointed the expertise and skills I wanted to share and improve on.
4. The next step was identifying the personality I wanted to be known for. What kind of style did I want to bring to the public? I looked at the natural tendency my personality gravitated towards and that helped me identify what I wanted to portray to my audience. If you haven’t taken the unique coach approach quiz I offer, this would be a great tool to help you identify what your unique approach is for your business!
5. After I was able to get clear on my personality I focused on what I wanted my audience to feel from the content I created for my business. After they read a post or watch a story, what are things I want them to feel? I also asked myself when they walked away from my content what did I want them to do with it and what did I want them to eventually become?
6. Once I was able to identify all of these factors, I combined them all together. If you get clear on what you want to be known for, the personality traits you want to infuse in your brand, and how you want your audience to feel this will create a recognizable, memorable, and viable brand.
Note: When you are building a personal brand it’s important to understand that doesn’t mean you have to share every detail of your life. You are building a brand that people want to know and trust and buy into. This doesn’t mean sacrificing your privacy.
When it comes to growing your business, don’t ignore the importance of creating a strong brand! If you can get clear on what you want your company to be known for, the kind of personality you want to be incorporated in your brand, and the way you want your audience to feel this will help your business grow. Don’t be afraid to rock the boat, get clear on your messaging, and go all-in on what you want your business message to be.
