My Top Tips When It Comes To Giving Value to Your Audience
How should I go about giving value to my audience?
Does giving value mean giving your best stuff away?
How much do I need to give for it to be considered valuable?
I get asked these questions all the time in my business coaching practice. Giving value is a critical topic because it’s essential for your sales. No one is going to want to buy from you if they’re not getting value from you.
But there are so many ways to give value, not just the traditional educational-type way I often see online. In this post, I want to show you different ways to give your audience value and how you can use them in a way that aligns with your own uniqueness!
What giving value really means.
I see so many online entrepreneurs think they have to give their clients massive breakthroughs with every piece of content in order for it to be of value.
But that’s not true! Value can be big or small. It still matters.
If your content helps your client think about something in a new way, if it entertains them, if it makes them laugh, that’s all still valuable!
So don’t think about giving value as having to evoke massive transformations. It can be simple!
Ways to give value.
While I’m sure there are countless ways to give value, there are certain patterns in terms of the type of value you can give and the content that can go with that. Your job as a content creator is to determine what type of value is most aligned with your style and what your clients need.
Knowing your unique coaching method REALLY helps with this. So if you haven’t already, go take my quick and easy unique coaching method quiz to learn more about the four approaches and see what kind of coach you are!
With that, there are three main ways to go about giving value:
- Educational/teaching value content. This type of content is about teaching your audience something specific that helps them solve a current problem. Your content should help them get further towards their goals. This kind of content builds up the “know” and “trust” factors in the know, like, trust model. The unique coaching method best suited to this type of content is the strategic coach.
- Inspiring/uplifting value content. This type of content is about opening up and sharing your story with your audience, connecting with them on a deeper level. Your audience needs to know they can relate to you and that you will be there to support them. This kind of content builds the “like” and “trust” factors in the know, like, trust model. The unique coaching methods best suited to this type of content would be mindset, aspirational, and spiritual.
- Entertaining/thought-provoking content. The purpose of this type of content is to make your audience feel something. Whether it’s a laugh, a gut reaction, or a big realization, this content should move your audience. Remember that this is valuable too! Making someone smile, brightening their day, showing people that you are a human outside of your business, that all matters! This kind of content is especially well-suited to aspirational coaches.
While certain unique coaching methods might align more naturally with one style of content, all types of coaches can and should use all three of these styles in their own unique way.
It’s important to remember that your audience needs different things from you. They don’t always want to be educated by you. Sometimes they might just need a laugh, something to make them think, or an inspirational story. ALL of that is valuable. So don’t put pressure on yourself to only give value in one way!

Where to go from here…
With these types of value content in mind, I want you to look at your social media content and do an audit. Ask yourself…
Am I only leaning towards one type of content? Why?
Does my content match with my coaching method?
Does my content showcase my personality and what it’s like to work with me?
Then, you can form a plan for your content that uses all three types of value. It’s totally okay to play to what your strengths are, but I encourage you to use different kinds of content and experiment to see what works best for you.
