Ayesha says it all started with a Facebook Ad. She was scrolling through Facebook and entered a funnel, where she went in and put her email address to download some sort of freebie. Once that freebie was downloaded, she was then reached out with all these offers. The freebie was blog-related, she was so interested in the fact that there were people out there educating others about blogging. So Ayesha entered into the blogging space, started looking more into the online space, and she admits it was overwhelming at first. There was creating the blog post, promoting, creating an online course, offering high ticket coaching, and learning SEO. Ayesha didn’t know any of this at the time so started to learn a little bit of everything. She then decided to start up as a Virtual Assistant as she learned these tools. Little did she know, her clients would start highly requesting help with email marketing.
When Ayesha helped with email marketing, it involved a funnel. She started to help people set up their funnels and email marketing, through this she learned there were so many different platforms. She then decided to niche down into being a sales funnel expert. She became so intrigued by the strategies for the entire technique of funnels and how it could make you money. Eventually, Ayesha found Kartra, an all-in-one marketing tool. She describes this as a game-changer for her business. She was on so many different platforms and half her hours clocked would be spent finding API keys from one platform to plug into another. She was also pushed towards Kajabi, in the past, she took a lot of courses on Teachable but there weren’t any sales funnel platforms. Kajabi and Karta have been essential for Ayesha’s business. Now Ayesha makes sales funnels within Kartra and loves to find the best ways to convert regardless of what niche the client is in.

Ayesha believes it’s very important that you understand what a funnel is before you start creating one. She started out thinking a funnel was where you throw up a lead magnet, get people into some sort of email list, and then send out emails from there. What she didn’t realize is that a funnel is a customer journey. You are taking someone through an entire journey, and initially, they may not even be aware of who you are, especially if you’re in front of a cold audience. Someone may sign up and consume your content but you don’t have the next steps for them, there is no journey. A funnel is about filling the gaps and ensuring you’re able to give the most value. A funnel is like serving, you are serving them a platter of multiple options.
When you have a journey and strategy behind your funnel, the leads will stick around and want more from what you have to offer. The goal of the funnel has to be determined first before you create it, you can start with growing an email list but it has to be aligned with your ultimate brand or business goal. For example, if you are a sales funnel expert, you can talk about email marketing, list building, or funnels. However, Ayesha wouldn’t recommend that you talk about un-related topics such as Instagram content. A funnel helps you refine your message down and lead someone to a point where they are ready to work 1:1 with you.
If you have a signature framework, you know it’s your offer and you know the elements within the offer. When someone is coming to you, maybe they’re not ready for that big transformation yet. A funnel is perfect for this because you can pick out a freebie or something that can serve value to your audience that still aligns with the bigger picture. Even if they aren’t ready for the bigger picture yet. For example, if you are teaching people how to build a sales funnel to sell an online course, someone may need something more about how to create a framework within their coaching business to scale. They will eventually be ready for more, but if you don’t have a funnel set in place initially, they can’t get access to more. So this could start with a free challenge, paid workshop, something quick. This is something small and that offers a quick win.
Our attention span is about 3-5 seconds and funnels are all about going from one page to another page. Your offer has to be very specific and offer a very specific problem you’re solving that is still in alignment with the overall framework. Having a framework is key, it’s almost like reverse engineering. If you want to serve this ideal client, but they’re not fully there yet, think about how you can lead them to get there. This is about educating the person, getting them to love you, and getting them to know what your entire framework is about. Offer value in small pieces!

Ayesha dives into the top ways you can start implementing advertisements for your funnel without paying for ads or feeling like you’re constantly talking about the funnel. The first tip Ayesha shares are utilizing your Instagram bio. You can link to your funnel right there and make sure you add a catchy call to action, for example, “Get the free x, y, z now. Click below.” Another tip Ayesha shares are creating an Instagram post promoting the funnel, even if you don’t add a call to action within the post itself, try to tie the content into your funnel so that people are encouraged to check out your profile and click your link. Another great strategy is utilizing Instagram highlights. Highlights appear right at the top of your Instagram profile and it’s a form of constant advertisement without you having to pay. The bottom line with Instagram is that the more you engage and post, the more people will consume your content and see the funnel you are offering.
Ayesha has also found that if you know there are people with bigger audiences that align with your audience, you can tag them in your IG stories or your IG posts with something relevant. For example, if Ayesha is recording this podcast episode with me and posts about it to her IG story, she would tag me and I can repost it to showcase my audience. Getting as many click backs to your profile is important. You can also use Facebook Groups, by being active and offering free value, people will want to learn more about how to work with you and your services. Sometimes you can also go into Facebook Groups and search for a word relevant to your lead magnet, people may be asking about it and you can help answer. Facebook ads can also be a great option, it’s quite affordable when you’re ready to take that step.
This is just the tip of the iceberg with funnels but I hope this episode gave you a great overview of what funnels are and how they can tremendously help your business! If you have any questions about funnels, Ayesha shares that her Instagram DMs are always open to help you out in any way she can.
And as always, stay safe, stay healthy, and stay #PrettyAwkward!
