I am so excited to feature one of my favorite TDE grads on the podcast today. Sarah Salain spent two years with stagnant content before joining my program. Today she’s filling high-ticket group programs in a deeply sensitive niche—infertility—on part-time hours as a stay-at-home mom.
In this episode, I’m sitting down with Sarah to break down the exact shift that changed everything for her: claiming her niche instead of staying broad, leaning into her own story, and trusting the process even when her launch hit a family emergency mid-way through.
When you finally claim what you’re meant to be known for, the content stops feeling like a grind and starts feeling like a water hose.
Megan Yelaney:
Hello, and welcome back to business. Not as usual. I am so excited to feature an incredible TDE grad on the podcast today. Welcome Sarah Salaine to the podcast.
Sarah Salain :
So happy you’re here. Thanks, Megan. I’m so excited to be here.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah. Thank you. Thank you for doing this. I really love featuring clients who’ve not only gone through the program, but have really embraced the process, even when it was really hard and even when it wasn’t. You know, just smooth sailing at all moments. And I know you’re such an open book with all of that. So before we dive into all the questions and your incredible results, I’d love you to just share what you do and who you help.
Sarah Salain :
Sure. So I am a registered nurse, and since meeting Meg, I have now niched down into working with women who are struggling with infertility. So a very holistic route, I hope, help women overcome infertility in a more natural way. And it is truly my pride and joy and my passion. So I love it.
Megan Yelaney:
It’s so exciting helping someone like you because it’s such a ripple effect. I’m like, oh, my gosh. I love that I get to have any tiny little bit of hand in what you do, because the work you do is literally bringing life into this world. So it’s. It’s pretty incredible. So I’m. I’m honored to be even a schmidgen in. In here with you, but thank you for doing this. I’m really excited to chat a little bit about your journey because you and I talked for a while, Quite. Quite a while before you signed up. I feel like we were chatting for, like, a year. You decided to join. Yeah. Which I kind of love that because, one, I truly believe people come into something when they’re meant to. But I’d love you to share a little bit of your thought process. And I didn’t tell you this before I started this podcast. I didn’t tell you I was gonna ask you. This kind of just popped into my head, but I’d love you to share. Like, what hesitations did you have? Like, I know you were interested when I first launched it, but what took you that time to finally go, okay, I need to do this. I need help?
Sarah Salain :
Yeah, that’s a good question. So I primarily started. I’ve been in business for four or five years now, and I’ve. I’ve done a lot. I’ve made a lot of changes. I’ve refined a lot of things. My program is. You know, when I came to you, it was built out and Pretty much done and all of the things. So before I niche down and started tde, I was working just overall with hormonal clients. So. So pcos, just general sustainable weight loss, empowering women to understand their bodies. And I have a passion for infertility because that’s something that I went through. And so when I started sharing that on social media, I started getting a ton of clients who were like, hey, I saw you overcome infertility naturally. Like, how. How do I do this? How do I work with you? And so my clientele started to change, but my niche did not. And so some hesitations I had with TDE because, like, said, we had been talking for literally forever. There were so many. I’ve been burned by business coaches before. I’ve been in the programs where it’s like, DM a hundred people every day and, you know, literally drag yourself into the dirt and totally unsustainable business practices where I hated my business because every day I was chasing this, like, rat race of not ever being able to do enough in.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah.
Sarah Salain :
You know, that way. And so that, for me, was not sustainable and it wasn’t authentic to me. And I am really big on showing up and being the most authentic person that I can be. I’m the same way in my real life. I’m the same way with my clients. That’s just important to me. So that was one of my hesitations. And my other hesitation was, well, I have a good thing going. I don’t feel like I have a lot to change. And so that was a little nerve wracking for me. And then I think right before I pulled the trigger, I texted you, and I was like, meg, this is the worst time for me to ever do something like this.
Megan Yelaney:
I have.
Sarah Salain :
I’m new, freshly postpartum. I have a new baby. I’m not even in my business anymore. Like, everything’s just kind of chaos. I’m just riding on vibes. I don’t have help. I’m just. It’s a disaster over here. It’s a disaster. And you were like, no, now’s the perfect time.
Megan Yelaney:
We’re gonna uproot it.
Sarah Salain :
We’re gonna do it now.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah.
Sarah Salain :
And, yeah, I really. I just. Those words kind of, like, stuck with me. Like, now’s not the perfect time. There’s never gonna be a perfect time. And in reality, I’m so glad I did it in the messy middle. Like, I met you in the messy middle. And then I got really, really, really messy.
Megan Yelaney:
And.
Sarah Salain :
But in the best way possible. Like, it had to shatter for something new to come of it. Yeah.
Megan Yelaney:
Oh, I love that you shared that. Because so many people are in that space where they’re like, well, I just need to wait until I get this clarity or I get this thing. And it’s like, that’s actually the whole purpose is to help you. And this is really who it’s for, is someone who’s worked with clients, who’s had a business. And it’s not that you have to be in a pivot, but you’re like, something about what I’m putting out there doesn’t feel quite right. It’s like not bringing in the most aligned clients or enough. Right. Like, the people I bring in are great, but it’s just not at the rate I need. And you, I think with the second we started working together, it was very much this. I’m one in foot, one foot in, one foot out with the infertility angle and knowing, hey, when I look at the clients I’ve loved working with, the good majority of them are were infertility clients. But I haven’t claimed that yet. And I’m scared to, you know, leave a lot of my audience out and shift to really claiming that and talking about my story even more. So. And. And all of that. And you, when we really talked about it, the thing that I got you there was when we went through your story and all roads led to wait. This is who you were meant to help. And so walk me through a little bit of, like, the fear you had from shifting your niche, going from. It’s not even shifting. It’s getting more clarity on or more. More definitive in the messaging of I am helping women with infertility, not just hormones in general. What fears did you have about that and how did you kind of overcome those?
Sarah Salain :
Honestly, it was me. I was the biggest block. Like, I will say that I was the biggest block, because I remember sitting down on our first one on one call with ntde, and you’re like, wait, I thought you just did infertility. Like, that’s how I know you.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah.
Sarah Salain :
And then you asked me, well, what clients are you serving? And I’m like, 100 of them right now are infertility. And then you’re like, okay, well, what’s your success rate? And I’m like, well, 99 success rate. And you’re like, wait a second.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah, what’s happening?
Sarah Salain :
For a second. So. So it was me. I was nervous to claim it, and I think it’s because it was still so fresh for me. Like, I had Just overcome it. I mean, I’ve been helping women get pregnant for four years now, five years now. Like that’s not new. Nothing I’m doing is new. But claiming it to the world is new. And infertility is such a sensitive topic. And I, this is something that you and I have talked about a lot. I’ve never want to appear on social media as like fear mongering or insensitive to the subject. And a lot of coaches out there will tell you to do that. And you specifically told me, no, no, no, no, no. Just share your story, Sarah. Like your story is important. Share your story. And since then it’s just been, I mean, I have girls falling into my world that are just so aligned and they are so desperate for a support system and they see hope. Like they come to my page and they see hope. And so that’s an amazing thing.
Megan Yelaney:
And it was just like once we got through that shift of okay, this is who I’m specifically helping with this specific thing and I’m claiming it. The content just was like, it was like a water hose. It was like, oh, this is what I’m supposed to do.
Sarah Salain :
It’s.
Megan Yelaney:
That’s kind of like always a clue for people. I’m like, if it starts to be like I can’t keep up with how many ideas I have, that’s when you know you’re in, in the right area. So we’re going to talk a little bit more about some of the fears that you had. But I would love to hear what happened with your account, what happened with your page and your content. Cause you’ve had some really, really cool stuff happen.
Sarah Salain :
Yeah, well, content for me, and we’ve talked about this before was like probably the last two years has just been so stagnant. Like my page has not. It’s just been so stagnant. No matter what I do, no matter what trend I do, no matter what tre sound I do. You know, I hear all the, the advice online and I lost my passion in it because it’s a full time job to show up on social media. A lot of people don’t talk about that. So you’re running a business and you’re running on social media too. And it’s just so defeating when you’re kind of just like circling my content. It, it just kind of blew up. I mean, there’s no other way to put it. It’s reaching very aligned people. And to me personally, it’s very shocking because I just didn’t know how many women felt the same Way I did.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah.
Sarah Salain :
In their journey, I didn’t know how many women are out there alone, struggling and suffering with infertility. And now I know it’s just endless out there, and these women are just, like, literally falling into my world, like I said. Yeah. But sharing my story has really helped that. I think it inspires a lot of women, it provides a lot of hope. It’s very authentic. It’s a glimpse into what it’s like to work with me, which is also really cool. I feel like a lot of people see that on social media. But, yeah, I mean, we had that one post that when.
Megan Yelaney:
I mean, wild.
Sarah Salain :
Yeah. 300,000, 400,000 views.
Megan Yelaney:
It’s just you had a couple crazy ones, and it wasn’t. And the thing is about yours, I’m seeing it because I watch your stuff, and I’m seeing you really lean in once you find something that clicks for you, which you really leaned into the testing. You were like, I’m willing to test. I’m willing to put myself out there and something. Some things flop, some things get nothing. And then you find formulas that work for you. And that’s the part that a lot of people want to skip is the testing part. I’m like, you got to test. You got to throw stuff out there, but it’s throwing it out there with intention because it’s your story, your framework, your ideal client. All the work we do in phase one of tde, it’s not random. And you really leaned into that, found some formulas that worked for you. And now I’m seeing. I’m like, oh, my gosh, her content. It’s like almost every piece of content is getting a comment of the trigger word in some way, shape, or form. It’s very rare that you don’t have people engage with your stuff. Now, is that fair to say?
Sarah Salain :
Oh, my engagement is wild. And I know that I am meeting a good audience because the conversations that I’m having in the DMS are the most genuine, powerful, you know, conversations. They’re very aligned. So, you know, for a lot of us who are running businesses online, it’s. Instagram is like our storefront, if you will.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah.
Sarah Salain :
But when you actually get to have conversations with women and. And then bring them into your world, like, it’s so different. It’s just very authentic.
Megan Yelaney:
It’s huge. You’ve grown how many followers?
Sarah Salain :
You know, overall, I was just looking last night. I know over the last 90 days, we’ve been working longer than that. It’s been over a thousand. I mean, that one post brought in over 600 just right off the bat.
Megan Yelaney:
Incredible. And then that’s also lead it led into your email list. You had a really, really awesome first launch of your group program. Signed complete strangers into your group program which was in such a specific and really sensitive niche is so incredible. What has been happening client wise because of the traction, the messaging being really on point. You have being so clear on your edge.
Sarah Salain :
What.
Megan Yelaney:
What has been the results of that from. From. From like a client perspective. If you’re willing to share that.
Sarah Salain :
I’m gonna brag a little bit but I have the world’s best clients.
Megan Yelaney:
I love it. Drag away. Go for it.
Sarah Salain :
I really do. I meg the women that I get to serve, it is such an honor. They are the most beautiful souls ever. They’re also aligned which makes the group program so amazing because they all get along with one another and they’re supporting one another. It’s. It’s a dream. It is a dream what I get to do. And there is definitely a lot of clarity. Everyone I had fill out a form when they came into the mama and waiting the group program. And when I asked them the last question I asked was what? Tell me your why. I just want to know your why. And although everyone’s story is a little bit different, their why was almost the same. And it was that they felt drawn to me because they could feel my warmth, they could feel my passion for this. They could feel that I love to do what I do. And so I just. The women that are server awesome, they’re very, very aligned.
Megan Yelaney:
I love it. Oh and that’s like, that’s the whole point, right? And the last even month I remember you messaged me, you’re like I already booked out my June spots and it was like the end of May. So you’ve booked out your one on one. You had four women join your group program which is a high ticket group program. Am I correct on that number?
Sarah Salain :
Yeah, I think four or five. And then I filled the rest of my one on one spots and I filled them for the month of June in May.
Megan Yelaney:
Amazing. Incredible. And then any other like fun stats. I know your husband said something to you that you told me you’re totally willing to share that you want to share just like the, the you know, we, we want to grow our business. We want to. People want to know that this kind of work can lead to actual clients and sales when you put the work in and when you trust the process. And you’re such a beautiful example of that. So anything on that you’re willing to share. I’d love to love it.
Sarah Salain :
Yes. So I always tell people I’m, I’m not in the business to get rich. I’m in the business to serve. I always say that. Yeah, that’s truly, truly on my heart. But as you know, as a business owner like you, it, it has to make sense, right?
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah, you gotta, you gotta bring in some money to pay the bills. Yeah.
Sarah Salain :
But in the. I was distinctly blowing up your phone on a Saturday, I’m pretty sure, and I’m like, thank. I looked out my June spots and then I texted you and I’m like, my husband, we were going through my account and he’s like, wow, you brought in more money than me this month. Like, that’s crazy. And it’s amazing for some context of who’s listening. I’m a full time stay at home mom and a full time business owner and a full time, you know, keeping everything, you know, running, running the show back here. I am not the breadwinner in this season. So to see that was kind of, or to hear him say that was kind of funny and very rewarding because
Megan Yelaney:
yeah, he’s like working. You beat me, honey.
Sarah Salain :
That’s incredible.
Megan Yelaney:
I love that he’s so supportive and like really the whole, the whole time has been. And that’s just such a testament again to the work you’ve done. And thank you for mentioning that. Like, you are doing this truly on part time hours. And I think that’s why once you had the system and you, you really again, sometimes people join programs and they, they don’t trust the process and they skip or they, they’re like, oh, but this isn’t working this second, so I’m gonna dip out. And you were like, I have to trust this. I have to lean in. I have to dig in. Every single person I’ve interviewed who has had success, that’s part of it. And so I guess my one question to you would be like, what kept you going through the process even when it was hard? Was there anything specifically molded into the support or the curriculum that like just helped you keep going? Because it’s, it’s hard out there.
Sarah Salain :
It’s not easy. I think one thing that I always remind myself is this is an honor to be able to choose what I get to do. I think that’s really important. But the other thing is just because it’s good doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy. Like, yeah, just because you own a business doesn’t mean it’s not going to be hard. It’s hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it. Yeah. So that was one thing. But honestly, the support container was amazing. I did the VIP and just having the one on one calls with you, I mean, everything was laid out. There was not an option for me to fold it in and say I’m not doing this. Like it was laid out for me every due date, every plan. Like, just all I had to do was show up and get it done. Is that hard on very, very, very part time hours? Sure. But it was worth it and it made it happen. So. And besides that, like the community aspect of tde, that’s another thing that I had talked to you about that I really wanted. I wanted to meet other women who were doing the same thing I was doing, who were just trying to make it work business wise. Um, and so that was really helpful too.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah. Especially, you know, there’s so many women in the program who are doing this part time as well as they have kids or are actually full time making a full time income like yourself on part time hours. I think that’s the biggest thing to. To really note is like that is a hundred percent possible when you have something that’s scalable. And so that’s really what we did was we nailed down your message, nailed down your edge, which I’d love you to share in your words. What do you think is your edge makes you different from other people out there doing a similar, similar thing. Like why are people picking you over other people?
Sarah Salain :
Two things to that, I think. One is I share a lot of my story. I’m not just someone who does this for a living. I lived it.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah.
Sarah Salain :
And that’s. There’s power behind that. There’s a testimony behind that. There’s passion behind that. And I think the second thing is I. How do I say this? I don’t even know. I lost it.
Megan Yelaney:
Oh, you’re good.
Sarah Salain :
No, you’re totally.
Megan Yelaney:
We can edit.
Sarah Salain :
What did you even ask me what
Megan Yelaney:
basically what your edges. Like, what was.
Sarah Salain :
Yeah, where is I going with that?
Megan Yelaney:
You were saying like your story was a huge, huge reason. Of course you went through it.
Sarah Salain :
I got it. So another thing is that I talk a lot about breaking the broken infertility care system.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah.
Sarah Salain :
And that’s a. That’s something I’ve never heard anyone else talk about on social media. So I’m not only trying to help women obviously overcome infertility, but I want to change the entire care model of infertility. And so I’m on this double mission here of trying to uphold both. But that’s super important to me, and I think it sticks with a lot of women.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah, it’s huge. And so that’s like, exactly. You’re not. You’ve walked the walk. You. You’ve been through it your own self, and you’ve come out the other side. But you’re like, I want to do this from a systemic, like, place. I don’t want to just help. Yes, I want to help individuals, but I want to help people who can never afford my coaching, can never be in a program. I still want them to get the help. So I want to change it from the other side. And you’ve been made that so clear. I think it’s even in your bio. So it’s definitely, like, a huge thing that you stand for. And. And it just shows, like, the. One of the things you’ve done so well is really embrace sharing your story over and over and over again from different angles and seeing that that’s actually what’s really working right now. But we had to go through and make sure, what are the main parts of your story? How does it match with your process? And so that it all made sense as to why someone, when they land on your page, will naturally want to be part of your world and become a client. There was a journey that you’ve really been able to take them on, and it’s just been so beautiful to watch. I love it. Oh, my gosh. This has been so, so incredible. Anything you would say to anyone who’s maybe, you know, like, yourself on the fence, even for a while and is considering joining is a little bit nervous. Anything you want to just give them for inspiration.
Sarah Salain :
This TDE in general and working with you in any way, I think working with you in any way is amazing, but this has been the most rewarding experience. Yes, it’s scary. Yes, it’s hard, but it’s so, so, so worth it. And I would recommend that to anyone. I’m not just saying that. I mean that wholeheartedly. So much so that I did go into Mastermind. So I’m excited to start that.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah, I’m so excited.
Sarah Salain :
It’s very, very scary, but it’s. It’s so important. And the good thing is, is once you nail everything that you nail in tde, I really, truly believe that it’s a rinse and repeat. Like, you just start owning everything and talking about it. And social media becomes a breeze and running your business becomes a breeze. Like, it just sits well with Your soul. It’s not like this checklist of things that you have to get done. It really is authentic. And you do that with each of your clients. Because I’ve noticed in tde, we all didn’t just follow the same plan. Like, everyone’s business is in a different area. And you helped each of us, like, find our niche, find where we’re supposed to be, find what we’re doing. Like, it wasn’t just some protocol, for lack of words, that everyone went through. It was very specific to each person. So, yeah.
Megan Yelaney:
Oh, thank you for saying that.
Sarah Salain :
Yeah, that. That’s a huge thing I noticed in the program.
Megan Yelaney:
And that’s the goal is like, you know, we have our framework and because every business is so different, we have to. We tweak it for yours. Right. And so that’s why there are some core things that I review for everyone, no matter what level. Because, and I’ve been told from friends who have other group programs are like, I can’t believe you include that in the base. Like that should be. They should pay more for that. Right. And so I’m like, well, I just, I know that I have to have my eyes on some of this stuff because it’s gonna make such a difference for the next step for them. And I’ve tried to just curriculum ize some of it and it’s. It’s tricky. It’s like you have to have a little bit of that feedback, at least for now. Maybe I’ll figure that out one day. But as of now, it’s my favorite part, honestly, is getting into the nitty gritty and knowing every single person’s business in some way, shape or form. So thank you for, for saying that. I really appreciate that. Last question. Is there. Was there any specific, like, exercise framework or coaching moment that kind of like broke something open for you? Messaging wise? Anything like within the process that like really clicked for you? I know you mentioned story, but anything else that you would highlight,
Sarah Salain :
oh my goodness, there’s so many good things in that program. I would say, messaging wise. I remember having like a one on one conversation with you about how like the way you run your business. You always say this, you run it how you want to run it, like, this is your business. And I think that’s a very empowering thing because almost no business coaches will tell you that. They will tell you, this is the strategy, stick to the strategy. And yes, like, TDE has all good things to help you do that, but it allowed me to do it and keep the freedom of my Business. And I feel like that’s a lot of what people are scared of when they work with someone or they’re in a program is that they’re going to lose their side of the business. And this program has only helped me find myself in my business, really, and give me a passion for it. I’ve never loved the work that I do as much as I do right now, and that’s solely because of TDE and you.
Megan Yelaney:
Oh, my gosh. Well, you did a little bit of that. So you did all of that pretty much. I just, like, guided you there. I love that. Thank you so much for sharing that. Because that’s the goal is like, yes, we want you to have success. We want you to make money, we want you to sign clients, but we want you to do it with the clients that are, like, you’ve said, so aligned. The people that you’re so excited. You genuinely love the work you do. That’s the point. Especially when you’re a parent. And it’s. I say this all the time. If I’m going to be away from my boys, it has to be worth it. So I got to be making great money serving great clients that I love. Like, that’s so true.
Sarah Salain :
That’s so true. And I’m very much on that page, too. And then I know this is something we had talked about earlier, but, you know, my launch did not go as planned. And that is. That’s life. Life happens. We were in the middle of. Literally the middle of my launch, and I texted you, and I’m like, this is. I don’t know how I’m going to do this. I have to get on the first flight out. We had a family emergency. I had very limited WI fi. I had very limited time, and I was in a lot of grief, and in the middle of a launch was like, the worst possible time ever. And you just told me, you show up the way you can. You do what you can in these moments. You just do what you can. And that’s all. And still had a successful launch, still brought the most amazing women into my world. And truly, I didn’t even have to fully be on social media. Like, I had to spend time with my family and serve my family, and no job could ever allow me to do that the way this one did.
Megan Yelaney:
Yeah. Oh, I love that. It makes it also. It makes those really tough moments so worth it. So I’m so excited for you. And it’s almost. It’s the reflection after is like, I’m glad that happened. When it did because it taught me that I truly can handle anything. And it’s like, oh, I’m gonna be fine. I can handle that. Yeah. So thank you for sharing that. Thank you just for being so honest and open and sharing your heart. You’re incredible. We will link Sarah’s Instagram below so you can go say hi. Remember to go to Maggie Laney.com forward/tde. We’ll put that down below as well to apply ask any questions. Thank you so much, my friend. I’ve just adored working with you and so excited to continue.
Sarah Salain :
Thanks, Meg. I’m super excited.
Megan Yelaney:
Bye, everyone. We’ll see you on the next one.
