In this blog post I’ll give you the 5 specific steps I took to create residual income from my old business (that still comes in today) using Pinterest for business so you can make money while you sleep and build trust with your ideal clients.

How to Make Residual Income with Pinterest for Business Tip #1: Use the correct keywords
One of the first things I realized when I started to learn about using pinterest for business was that I was doing it ALL wrong before because I wasn’t using “keywords.”
SO what’s a keyword anyway?
This little description is from this blog that you can dive deeper in if you want to go down a keyword rabbit hole =)
“A keyword, or a focus keyword as some call it, is a word that describes the content on your page or post best. It’s the search term that you want to rank for with a certain page. So when people search for that keyword or phrase in Google or other search engines, they should find that page on your website.
Let’s say you’ve got a website about pianos: you sell all sorts and types of pianos. You blog about what to look at when buying a piano and you share reviews about the pianos you offer on your online shop. You sell digital pianos so you’ve created a product category page about digital pianos. Ask yourself this:
What kind of search term do you want to be found for?
Which words do you think people will use in search engines to find you?
What would the search query look like?”
No longer should you name your boards “My Fav Recipes” or “My Fav Workouts.” You want to fill your boards, your pin descriptions, AND the text on your pins with keywords people are actually SEARCHING in Pinterest.
Simply searching “intermittent fasting” in Pinterest helped me realize “intermittent fasting for women” was a very common “long-tail keyword” (aka a string of words together) that people were commonly searching. From that moment on I put those string of keywords in basically every pin image, description, and blog post and had an entire board called “Intermittent Fasting for Women”, which you can find here.
This was the FIRST step to create passive/residual income. I promise, the exciting stuff is coming =)
How to Make Residual Income with Pinterest for Business Tip #2: Have a clear call to action to sign up for your email list
After you use the right keywords, and have people click through to a page (whether it’s an opt in landing page or your blog), you MUST have a clear call to action to opt into your email list.
When people click an intermittent fasting pin, they usually click through to a blog post on that topic. Not only do I have a pop-up on that blog for my free intermittent fasting guide, but at the top of each blog post (just like this one with the Pin 2 Profit Challenge!) I have a very CLEAR call to action for them to sign up for my free intermittent fasting guide.
They key is to make it EXTREMELY easy for them to opt in. They shouldn’t have to question where to put their name/email. It should be very obvious. The free offer should also be something SPECIFIC that your ideal client truly wants and needs. How will it solve their problem or bring them closer to their goals?
Do your market research and create a free offer that your ideal client needs that will naturally lead into your higher ticket programs later on. You can read my in depth, market research blog here.
How to Make Residual Income with Pinterest for Business Tip #3: Have an up-sell from your free offer
A small price point offer you give someone after they opt into your free offer is called a tripwire, which is a fancy word for small price point offer. You want your first price point offer to be $7 (something I recently learned–as you’ll see my intermittent fasting tripwire is $9, not $7–always learning!)
This is a small guide, video, training, etc that will dive deeper into the topic they’re opting in for.
Essentially you want to CREATE a problem for them in the free offer. You give them tips, the how, but then they go, “Okay, now how do I DO this?! How do I implement these tips?!” That’s where your tripwire $7 offer comes in.

If you can include templates, worksheets that again focuses on how to solve their problem (and directly relates to the free offer), you’ll convert way more.

One Click UpSell
If you have a feature such as clickfunnels, you can put in what’s called a one-click upsell. This is a chance for them to get ANOTHER offer (besides that $7 tripwire) at a discounted price when they check out. You can totally implement this into your email series if you don’t have clickfunnels. You just have to make it clear in your emails that this is a discounted rate.

How to Make Residual Income with Pinterest for Business Tip #4: Send weekly VALUE PACKED emails
Once someone opts into your email list (and hopefully buys your tripwires and upsells!), your work is not done! In fact, it has JUST started! THIS is the key to truly converting cold leads from Pinterest into warm and then HOT leads.

Okay, back to the topic at hand! Every week (at least once a week), you should be emailing your list. This email should be value packed, helping them solve problems they say they have and reach goals they say they want to reach. The key words here being “they say they have and they say they want to reach.” Do your research–it’ll make all the difference. You want to speak to a PERCEIVED problem they have, not one you THINK they have or should have.
Plan your content around those problems and goals as well as around what you’re planning to launch, so you can warm them up.
