Being ignored on social media is psychological hell. Does this sound like you? Struggling to be visible and not enough people are seeing what you share; feeling frustrated as heck, excluded, less important, and not enough; and being totally overwhelmed by not making the kind of income you want (or need!)?! You’re not alone – I used to feel that way too! I was sick of relying SOLELY on Instagram and Facebook to attract my ideal clients. That’s when I discovered the power of Pinterest (love that alliteration 😉 In this blog post I’ll share with you the top 5 reasons I believe you should be using Pinterest for business (no matter what type of entrepreneur you are–but especially for online coaches!)

Why You Should Use Pinterest For Business Reason #1: It’s a Search Engine
Raise your hand if you’re a control freak! If you’re like me, having control in your business is PARAMOUNT. It’s one of the reasons network marketing drove me crazy near the end–I felt like there were SOO many things out of my control! So if you ARE a control freak, you’re going to LOVE Pinterest.
While Instagram and Facebook are GREAT social media platforms to use for your online coaching business, they’re not as controllable. The algorithm changes every other day, and you can spend SO much time writing THE BEST CONTENT, have a great picture, and for some unknown (and frustrating AF) reason, you get little to no engagement.
I’ve been there and it SUCKS.
Enter Pinterest….the SEARCH ENGINE of social media platforms.
The reason Pinterest is so controllable is because people don’t use it like they do other social media platforms. People don’t go on Pinterest to check out certain accounts and see what they’re up to. They go on to search for SPECIFIC things. It’s like Google and YouTube in that way.
What does this mean? You can strategically use keywords and keyword phrases that people are searching in Pinterest and Google to get more eyeballs on your content. YOU HAVE CONTROL as long as you do the research!
We’ll be going over more of this search engine optimization strategy and keyword tips in my good friend, Rachel’s, Pin 2 Profit Free 5 Day Challenge. Be sure to sign up here!
Why You Should Use Pinterest For Business Reason #2: It Attracts Cold Leads & Builds Your Email List
Pinterest scrollers don’t discriminate. They don’t judge you by your Pinterest profile pic or your pretty Instagram feed or your body/shape/etc. They are on Pinterest for a reason…to learn something new or to solve a problem they have. HELLO IDEAL CLIENT!! This is why it’s SUCH a great platform to attract cold leads.
What’s a cold lead?
A cold lead is basically someone who is finding your content for the first time. They don’t know you or what you’re about, so it’s not the best time to market any paid products.
BUT! You have to start somewhere right? Warm leads start as cold leads, then turn into hot leads who are ready to buy your program or products. So if you’re not regularly attracting cold leads into your business (then warming them up), you’re going to stay stagnant and not see financial growth.
Email List Building With Pinterest
Once someone finds you on Pinterest (as a cold lead), they click your pin, go to your blog or landing page for your freebie (lead magnet), and opt into your awesomeness, aka your email list. Now, it’s up to you to warm them up! You MUST warm up your email list and send them regular value packed emails (with content they actually WANT) in order to turn that cold lead into a warm then hot lead who’s ready to buy! So yes, Pinterest can be considered a “long game”, but if you play it right, that “long game” can be VERY profitable (and not very long when we think about it–a few months ain’t that long when you’re talking TONS of leads).
I have a kick ass client attraction masterclass where I dive deeper into how you can create content that your ideal client actually wants and how to attract more of these cold leads into your biz. You can get it here <3
Why You Should Use Pinterest For Business Reason #3: It’s FREE
You CAN use Pinterest advertising, but the way we teach it in the Pin 2 Profit Challenge…you do NOT have to pay to play on Pinterest, which is freakin awesome =)
You can consistently attract new leads into your business WITHOUT paying for ads when you use the Pin 2 Profit method.
It’s how I consistently add 10+ people to my intermittent fasting free guide DAILY, a business I stopped working over 8 months ago (which I’ll go over in Reason #5 below!)
So if you’re ballin on a budget and trying to bootstrap your biz, Pinterest is the way to go!
Why You Should Use Pinterest For Business Reason #4: It’s Easy To Use
When I was told to use Pinterest, I got real annoyed. I’m like excuse me, you expect me to learn ANOTHER social media platform? I can barely keep up with Instagram and Facebook. How the HECK can I fit in ANOTHER one?! Well I’m REALLY glad I trusted this person (my girl Rachel who’s hosting the Pin 2 Profit Challenge), and dove in head first.
PINTEREST IS EASY and FUN. Of course, like with anything, there’s a learning curve and it’s going to take you a bit to get started. But after you get the hang of it, it’s the EASIEST social media platform to use and the one I spend the LEAST amount of time on (and get the MOST email opt ins from).
So if you’re worried you’re not ready for another social media platform, my friend…you are. It’s going to SAVE you time in the long run, add way more people to your community and email list, and is something you can EASILY outsource when you get to that point in your business.
Why You Should Use Pinterest For Business Reason #5: It Works For You While You Sleep & In the Future
Fun Fact: My most repinned pin is from October 2017. WTF. I was FLOORED when I checked this recently. That means something I pinned in 2017 is getting repinned today, in March 2019. 1.5 years later. That’s why Pinterest is GOLD. It works for you LONG AFTER you post it. Why? Because again (Reason #1) it’s a SEARCH ENGINE BABY! If your pin has keywords that people are searching it can be found, even if it’s from years ago. It’s why I STILL get 10+ opt ins for my free guide every day and don’t work that business anymore.
Another Fun Fact: last month I made over $300 in passive income from my health + fitness products (again a biz I haven’t TOUCHED in 8+ months) all because of Pinterest.
This is how it went—>Someone finds my Intermittent Fasting pin on Pinterest. They click through to my blog post on that topic. They opt into my free intermittent fasting guide that I have at the top of my blog post—>they get the thank you page which is also an upsell for my $9 Complete Intermittent Fasting Guide then have an option to upgrade even more to my $27 Macro Mini Course.
Let’s Break it Down…
They went into Pinterest searching for “intermittent fasting” to learn more about it, stumbled upon my pin, and ended up spending $36. That adds up FAST when you’re having 10+ people a day opting into your free guides. Now imagine if I actually was WORKING that business? That number would BLOW UP! My opt in pages and funnel is not amazing (I’ve learned a LOT since then but am not prioritizing that biz so haven’t fixed it) and yet I’m STILL making $$ from it.
Okay, if I haven’t convinced you by NOW to try Pinterest for your Business, I’m a complete and total failure 😉 But in all seriousness, give it a shot, and join the Free 5 Day Pin 2 Profit Challenge my girl Rachel is hosting on 3/18. You legit have NOTHING to lose, and all the leads to gain <3 Join us here.
